Travel Health Insurance
Newcomers of Eurowings Digital (and their family members) that have to go through a Visa process, need to provide proof of "Travel Health Insurance" for the Visa process with the German embasssy.
Why is that?
Regular health insurance (e.g. via Techniker Krankenkasse, AOK, Barmer, etc.) only becomes valid as of the employee's first working day. That also means that the family insurance for relocating family members only becomes active on the employee's first working day. But as newcomers (and their family members) usually arrive a few days prior to the first working day in Germany, the period between "Arrival in Germany" and "First working day" needs to be covered as well. This is done via a so-called "Travel Health Insurance".
