Visa & Work Permit

If you are relocating from a non-European country (and do not hold a European passport), it might be necessary to apply for a Visa and Work Permit before you are allowed to work in Germany and for Eurowings Digital. But even if you are already working in Germany, a change in your work permit may be required.

As the Visa and Work Permit requirements can vary from country to country, it is difficult to provide general statements or information that are applicable to everyone. German immigration law knows different legal bases for Work Permits and Visa for employees and relocating family members. Due to this, it becomes even more complex to come up with standard rules that can be used for everyone. Therefore, it is indispensable to always consider and check the individual situation and circumstances.

However, at Eurowings Digital, we do not want to leave you alone with this complex part of German bureaucracy!  Therefore, the Human Resources team of Eurowings Digital will support and guide you through the different steps of your individual Visa and Work Permit process. If you are relocating with family members (spouse and children), we, of course, support them with their corresponding Visa & Work permit processes as well! Please be informed that, in some cases, your relocating family members need to prove German language skills on an A1 level for obtaining their corresponding Visa (this way the German authorities want to make sure that it becomes easier for them to "arrive" and "settle-down" in Germany). The German language skills can be proven through a language certificate that is issued by an official language school (e.g. Goethe Institute) at your foreign place of residence.  The A1 German language certificate needs to be provided by relocating family members for sure in case the employee who is joining Eurowings Digital cannot get a Blue Card. Moreover, proof of German health insurance and travel health insurance is needed for the Visa processes with the German embassies. More information about German health insurance and travel health insurance can be found on this Onboarding Website.

As soon as you have accepted the job offer of Eurowings Digital, the Human Resources Team of Eurowings Digital will ask you for some documents and information that are needed for your Visa and Work Permit process (e.g. a scan of your passport and/or university degree). Moreover, it might be necessary that you sign a "Letter of Authority" giving the Human Resources Team of Eurowings Digital the allowance to handle the needed process steps with the German authorities on your behalf.  For that, the Human Resources Team of Eurowings Digital will get in touch with you. Based on this information, they will prepare the necessary documents for the German authorities and will inform you about the upcoming steps. Should you have any questions along the process, please feel free to reach out! Do not be shy :) The Human Resources Team is not biting ;)
