Things you have to do before you move

ZUP Clearance Process

Shortly after you have accepted the job offer of Eurowings Digital, we have sent you a "Welcome Email". In this email, you can find a form that has to be completed for the legally mandatory ZUP Clearance process. Please complete this form and send it with your Identiy Document (passport) to the HR Services team. They will take care of kicking off your ZUP process with the authority in charge. In case you are living or have lived outside of Germany for more than 6 months in the past 5 years, you need to provide a Police Clearance Certificte (PCC) of the respective country for the ZUP process. Please make sure that you request the PCC on time. It is needed as ORIGINAL by the authority who is processing your ZUP!

Decide on German long-term health insurance

All employees in Germany need to have long-term health insurance coverage. The costs for this are (almost) shared equally between employee and employer. Under the section "Moving to Germay - Health Insurance" you can find detailed information on how to sign up for long-term German health insurance and how the overall system works. Please also inform the HR Team of Eurowings Digital for which long-term health insurance provider you have decided!

Return Contractual documents

Please sign and return your contractural documents (e.g. employment contract) to the HR Team of Eurowings Digital. We need these document(s) for your HR file

Stay pro-active

In case of any changes (e.g. delay in your joining date because of Visa issues), please inform us pro-actively :)

Apartment Search

The housing market in Germany is very competitive. Therefore, finding an apartment can take a little while. Our recommendation is to start with this process as early as possible. More informatio (incl. tipps, website to use for the apartment search, etc.) can be found under "Finding an Apartment":

Things you have to do after you have moved

City Registration

All residents in Germany must register with the city registration office in their German place of residence. This is regulated by law! Please take care of this within the first 2 weeks after your arrival in Germany! This is the most important step and has to be completed before all other steps listed below. The city registration e.g. triggers the creation of your German Tax ID (needed for payroll accounting), allows you to open a German bank account, or is the "door opener" to get an appointment with the immigration office for transferring your Visa (if applicable) into a longer term work and residece permit.

Opening a German Bank Account

After you completed your city registration, you can open a German bank account with any German bank. More information on that can be found under "Bank Account". Please note that we need your bank account details until the 15th of the month at the very latest (Example: if you join us in April 2024, we need your bank account details until 15. April 2024 at the latest. This is due to deadlines in payroll accounting).

Residence Permit (if applicable)

In case you are a Visa holder and need a longer-term residence permit, please reach out to the HR Team of Eurowings Digital after you are done with the city registration. The HR team will provide you with all relevant details that are needed for the upcoming steps.
